On March 30, Logan turned 30!! He was so excited to turn 30 because he feels like there’s a new level of credibility that comes with being in your 30s. I don’t know about that, but I’m excited to finally be able to say that my fiancé is in his 30s not his 20s!!
Months in advance, I asked him if he’d be interested in going away for the weekend. Although he loves to travel, he said he wanted to stay local and have the freedom to do what he wanted on this birthday.
So I dropped the idea for a while, but I still knew I needed to plan something. It’s such a big birthday for him that I didn’t want to let it pass by without at least a little fanfare.
Since we are more experience than “things” people, I started to brainstorm something fun we could do in San Diego that we hadn’t done before. But I was struggling…
A couple months prior, Logan said that this band called Broods was going to be in town the weekend of his birthday and asked if I wanted to go. I checked them out on Spotify and realized I’d heard their song Bridges before. I really like that song, so I was all for it, especially once I found out that the show would be at the Observatory which is super close to my house and I’d never been before!
Little did I know that I’d have Broods on serious repeat from then until the concert. Ahhhh they are SOOOO good. If you aren’t familiar with them, do yourself a favor and check them out now!!
The show was amazing, and Logan and I had such a good time together.
A couple weeks before his birthday, we had our first pre-marital counseling session. When we scheduled our second session, the pastor offered March 30 – Logan’s birthday. I immediately said no, but Logan surprised me and said, “Why not?”
At this point, I was seriously questioning Logan’s idea of a good time for his birthday…first saying no to a trip, and then saying yes to counseling….seriously, WHO IS THIS MAN?
After we went to our session that day, Logan wanted to go to the gym.
Once he got home, I sang him happy birthday and we had some mid-afternoon cheesecake (his birthday cake choice this year). What can we say, we don’t do many things traditionally.
Logan wanted to go out to dinner and chose a dumpling place that was new to us. We enjoy trying new restaurants together, and it got Logan really excited to show me around Hong Kong during our honeymoon in October!
About a week before his birthday, I suggested that we drive to Anza Borrego for the day to go hiking. It’s a couple hours’ drive there, but we enjoy hiking and thought it’d be fun to see the super bloom.
But when we were talking logistics the night before, Logan decided he wanted to go to the beach instead. It was a warm weekend, and with all of the rain, he was craving some relaxation on the beach.
So that’s what we did!
I don’t want to speak for Logan, but I’m pretty sure he had an awesome 30th birthday weekend! We even kept the celebration going the following weekend and went to dinner with my parents (featured image).
And then…at the end of this month, we’ll be going to a kombucha brewing class that I got Logan as a birthday gift. We are both obsessed with kombucha and didn’t have a ton of luck brewing it at home. Super excited to learn some tips and tricks!
Welcome to your 30s, my love, and I can’t wait to celebrate many more birthdays with you! xoxoxo
